Hi! We've lived in Shanghai since 2007. Joab works for a technology company and Em loves raising globally minded kids

What Your Visit to Shanghai Can Look Like (Hint, Hint)

We know you have thought about it. You read this blog and think....someday I will go to Shanghai to see the Meyers! But what will I do there? As they don't have the Great Wall right? (Great Wall is in Beijing). Well, thanks to our dear friend and fellow T-bird Alum Elizabeth- who came to see us this past week- you can see what all there is to see and do in Shanghai! Perhaps it will put you over the edge to go buy that overpriced airline ticket and come on over! We would LOVEEEEEEEE it.

First thing first! You can come and see the above cute kids. Elizabeth was gracious to watch the kids so Joab and I could go to the HSBC banquet (see previous post). Kids had a blast with her.
Second, you can buy pearls. Elizabeth and I each got new pearl rings (three dollars each) and earrings, necklaces...if it has pearls you can buy it here! Great place for Christmas gifts!

Thirdly, we can stop off at People's Square Park. A great place to unwind and talk.

We can visit the Jing'an Buddhist Temple in Town.

You will never have to see me in crutches again! After this photo I went to my Physical Therapy Appt! And he said I can get off my crutches! Great news indeed.

Next we are off to the mall near our house. It is decorated in a Butterfly Theme this month! Nine floors where you can shop to you hearts content...

Emily can show you her current favorite Chinese Character- which is peace. It is symbol for woman under the roof of a house. When you have a woman in your house you can have peace!

You can then take Peace Out Woman out to coffee and talk about the greater things of life.

If you need even more coffee you can get some at Starbucks At the Yu Yuan Gardens.

These gardens are wonderful (and great to take pictures in, Levitts and Smiths....)

You can then ask your great friend Joab to take the girls to have Chinese dresses and business suits made!

Elizabeth was able to get a business suit made for a lot cheaper than in the States and also a wonderful pink silk jacket!

The above are just some of the things we did! And all while Emily could barely walk and Joab had the flu! Thank you to Elizabeth for the photos! We had a blast we miss you already!

So, is there someway to have someone sponsor those overpriced tickets! You know that is the only thing that keeps us from knocking on your door right now!! So, quite the amazing picture, a person with crutches and a person in a wheelchair in China...a rare sight indeed! Glad to hear that they are gone now--yipee!

Oh, we already wanted to come, and now it's even more enticing! Can we eat snails with Miriam if we come? ;)
