Fall in Beijing

It has been fun to see Beijing change from the heat of the summer to the cool of fall! One "fall food" here is something called candied haw fruit. They are a bit bigger than a crab apple put on a kebab stick and dipped into really hot melted white sugar- to create something kind of like a caramel apple.

I have wanted to try one for sometime, so my dear Joab came home with one yesterday. It was not the best- as the haw fruit is kind of mushy- but the sugar on it was really good! Miriam ended up just licking it like a lollipop and we ate a few of the apples.

Asa has now taken over our kitchen chairs and uses them as his personal walkers to get all over! He will wedge himself against a wall and they yell to be turned around so he can walk some more. My days of a just a crawling baby are numbered......

It is a great fall day the kids and I plan to go out for some errands this afternoon. Em

Hi guys! How's the weather now in Beijing...cold enough for jackets? By the way, wait it out until spring when they have the candied strawberries...they are the best...not as good as pockies, but close.
